Lighting
- Keep lights low or off when not needed
- Use low wattage incandescent light bulbs or compact florescent bulbs in place of incandescent bulbs
- Turn off lights in any room not being used
- Use one large incandescent bulb instead of several small bulbs where a brighter light is needed
- Concentrate lighting in reading areas, work areas, and where lighting is needed for safety
- Install solid-state dimmers
- Turn three-way incandescent bulbs to lowest wattage setting when watching television
- Turn off outdoor lights when not needed
- Use timers, motion detectors, heat sensors, or photocell lighting controls when possible
